You know that rainbow painted homeless spikes picture? I just found out it's photoshopped. I feel like a portion of the left that hates "woke capitalism" sees it more than it really exists.

Do you think it is then necessary for the left to take at least some precautions in preparation for a potential civil war, like the more extreme parts of the right certainly are? Or is that scenario too unrealistic, or would such preparations do more harm than good? Or are they already being taken and I'm not aware of them?

have you ever noticed a difference between leftists who used to be liberals and leftists who used to be conservative? its obviously not 100% but something im starting to notice is that the latter group still seems to rlly hate libs, not just be annoyed/frustrated with them. i'm glad that leftism has grown a lot in the past couple years, but the "anti idpol/cosmopolitan politeness" sentiments seem to be growing within it as well. any advice on how to handle that?

Is it worthwhile to have some empathy with your political opponents? By empathy, I mean honestly trying to think about why they believe what they believe, even if what they believe is horrible. I think Contrapoints is extremely good at this, but she gets a lot of criticism for it. I think people are afraid the will agree with their opponents if they think this way, so that prevents people from doing it more often.

Do you think it's appropriate to talk about a non-binary (AMAB) person perpetuating toxic masculinity, or does that just reinforce the gender binary?
I'm not thinking of anyone in particular, to be clear. I'm just asking you because this has been rattling around in my head ever since I heard your remark about Zoe Quinn's harassment being misogynistic despite the fact that they are NB.

This hypothetical scenario sounds like the precursor to a civil war, which Dems/Libs/Lefties are at a disadvantage because the US Armed Forces are not known for being a bastion of progressive thought.

As a fiction writer willing to write some form of social/political commentary in our fictional works without being on-the-nose and end up amateurish, how can we write something nuanced? Any nuanced examples of fictional works that we may need to refer to? Can we find a right balance between cool fictional elements while people can see and agree to the politics of the fictional work?

I was speaking generally, about the Trump admins willingness to do literally anything to stay in power.
Up to and including creating a cult of personality that traffics in disinformation and whips its followers into a conspiratorial frenzy that culminates in a literal armed insurrection.I guess what I'm asking is, what responsibility do progressives have to adhere to basic morality and the rule of law against an enemy willing to completely disregard such things in pursuit of power? *Is* there a line, or *must* we win at literally any cost, up to and including the dissolution of our (admittedly failing) democracy?

There's a situation happening in Brazil that is pretty similar to the one that you described in "You go high we go low": there's a supreme court seat available and Bolsonaro is trying to fill it with a conservative evangelical judge; That would be the second seat that he would be able to fill however, the senate leader is refusing to hold a vote, and many on the left are cheering for this decision. I fear that, since this is the first time this happened in the country "going low for a good reason" may open the flood gates for many on the right to also go further in their unlawful actions for their political agenda; In your opinion, breaking a bad law is always justifiable, or is it best to only pursue this course of action when the right has already shown that is prone to do the same?

To speak on this from an agriculture perspective our current methods could provide, if rolled out smartly (i.e just give them the damn technology you bastards), for at least several billion more people than we currently have, no extra space required
There are other viable paths but the one we are on currently means a max population below this cap even, no theoretical technologies or GM crops required! (which also makes the actual carrying capacity a ??? but no-one serious really cares in this context because we aren't even close to overshooting) Climate scientists have known this for years too and not been quiet about it, the 'problem' is that new york stays about the same size and then a bunch of cities in Africa and Asia increase to accommodate all the new people in this model, when people call overpopulation a root problem with climate change they are laundering literal fascist propaganda which sees more Omani and Ugandans as being a bad thing *in itself* (more your department to report on why that is, i think) Which is really hard to deal with when the actual problems with agriculture worldwide (ironically, lack of diversity for example) keep getting nazis speculating about sterilizations to "control the flood" all over it
Which is why it's a myth (here are the basics of why, in terms of space used for food, the planet is not in any sense "overpopulated" right now, we have enough land) and also WHY it's a myth (nazis need an excuse to massage their views into the mainstream without being spotted),
Hunger is a policy failure on a global scale and just like housing, food should not be only available to those that can pay, we make enough to feed all, join your local 'food not bombs to find out more'!
