I don't want to accuse women of NOT being shallow, but I feel like that evolutionary-biology-adjacent anon is really projecting some shallow vibes here. Feels like they're having trouble conceiving of women as anything other than a political (?) class. Seems unhealthy. Seems self-alienating. Seems like an unforced error. Seems like sub-optimal strategy.

Women are physically attracted strong men who can hunt for food and provide healthy offspring. Women are more empathetic to care for young. Would you trust Justin Bieber to prevent you from getting mauled by a tiger? Would you expect Hulk Hogan or Clint Eastwood to take care of children and understand their needs well?

Where did you come up with "Link in the down there part"?
-
Anonymous commented:
That probably would've been more satisfying, but I'm not convinced it would've worked as an ending. Like, "Violence creates more problems than it solves" is arguably one of the series' main themes. I'm not sure I would've bought the idea that the problem created by killing a bunch of people was solved by killing even more people.

How would you have ended the John Wick movies, if you were given a blank check? I agree that the ending we got was a bit disappointing given the build-up of the previous installments, but part of why I was excited to see how it turned out was that I genuinely couldn't imagine what an endgame to that would look like.

The top 3 most-spoken conlangs (aside from the ones designed for fictional species like Klingon) are Esperanto (eurocentric), toki pona (basically a priori grammar, reasonably-widely-sourced vocabulary), and lojban (the grammar is based on functional programming languages like LISP and Haskell, and the vocab is eurocentric).

same anon: I guess I don't really disagree. It's fully irrelevant to me anyways as I am in a swing state so I will probably end up voting for Biden because I can't really justify any other course of action to myself, in my situation.
I like to think that, if the dems saw their strongholds states pull out of their reach to the left, it might rattle them enough to inspire some meaningful changes in policy, but ultimately they know we're stuck in the 2 party trap and don't have to acquiesce to shit. The dem politicians don't mind when they lose "power" anyway.

Why doesn’t Hamas free their hostages if they want to stop the genocide of their own people?
-
Anonymous commented:
Same anon. You can’t stop them from taking you out of context, but you don’t have to make it easy for them. “I’m not here to convert young men, I’m here to defeat them” sounds pretty bad no matter what context and it’s a lot easier for them to use than “ I’m not here to convert young conservative men, I’m here to defeat them.”

Do you mean:
1."a third party will never realistically get enough votes to influence the political landscape"
2."if a third party gathered a significant number of votes, that would be entirely ignored/forgotten almost immediately"
3."if a third party gathered a significant number of votes, the meaning of such a result would be interpreted in many different ways, none of which would be able to act as a direct megaphone for the people who submitted those votes"
4. None of the above?

There's a decent argument to be made for voting third party in like Vermont, Hawaii, Wyoming, North Dakota, et al, I think. Like if you essentially know which way the state is going to go, then probably the best thing you can do with it is protest by picking what would be better, if it had a chance. Abstaining from voting only ever gets counted as disinterest, never as disapproval.

Anonymous commented:
I really doubt "supporting and giving financial aid to Indonesia while it committed atrocities", the main thing he cites for Ford and Carter, would be sufficient grounds for hanging by itself. Terms like "crime against peace" and "crime against humanity" are pretty broad and you could implicate a LOT of historical world leaders, not just presidents, if you were to prosecute as aggressively as Chomsky does.
