    I think, on a societal level, de-nazification through reason and empathy cannot address the problem faster than the problem worsens, and, if this is the primary strategy, lots of people these Nazis hate will be lost while appealing to the Nazis' better natures

    so, as far as I'm concerned, the best form of de-nazification is direct opposition, with periodic olive branches to help them exit if they want to

    (and fascists often find force a more persuasive reason to exit than empathy)

    because conservatism is just bad. its moral foundations are wrong, its factual basis is provably false, and unchecked it keeps spiraling into fascism. conventional wisdom is that countries are stronger when there is a push-pull between Right and Left, and this has never in history been true. countries are healthiest the further they drift from conservatism and it would be best for everyone if the philosophy were abandoned.

    VanderMeer: spider-city is a library. all the alternate spider-people are mushrooms. miles discovers the spider who bit him was from a mushroom universe and he is also a mushroom. movie is 45 minutes long and most of the plot is in a 3-hour bonus feature on the blu-ray.
