(extremely sarcastic):
I'm sure that labor organizations would be respected if they never went on strike. Companies are notorious for giving in to demands even when their profits aren't at stake.

No, I don't think I will. And I'm not going to apologize for refusing to treat the effective shutdown of an industry that employs hundreds of thousands of people frivolously.

Anonymous commented:
Labor strikes represent a catastrophic failure of the kind of communication that labor unions are designed to facilitate, with an immense human cost. Collective action is performative when the means are ineffective, or only effective in the short term, and only benefit a small group at the expense of others.

Are they lefties? I mean I'm sure there are people under an umbrella that wide that believe almost anything, but this smacks of something that came from the right to sow dissent to me. All the actual lefties (not trying to no true scotsman anyone) I know are in the "Fuck yeah! Strike!" mindset regarding WGA.

Why does it seem like everyone is saying the quiet part out loud these days? That post you shared about the anonymous Apple executive is not something I've ever heard an executive admit to. But today it seems that transparency (?) is the go to...

What would you say to the idea that performative labor strikes, like the current WGA strike in Hollywood, are a type of revolutionary LARPing that fails to address the root issue of capitalism and ultimately does more harm than good?

Anonymous commented:
What is "The Ones Who Stay and Fight" by N K Jemisin trying to say? It seems invested in the idea of building a better society, but also suggests that even knowing about bigotry could make a person doomed, which feels self defeating? Also the ending seems to suggest that the correct solution to potential problems in society is a special group of people who are deputized to do violence to prevent other violence, which oddly reads like copaganda, but idk, am I missing something here?

Different anon. I don’t think this is what the original questioner was talking about, but I have noticed a similar phenomenon among leftist online influencers where they seem to almost bully the audience at times, and especially liberals in the audience. I can understand much of their frustration with liberals, but it seems that a lot of the time in their videos seems to amount to yelling at liberals for their ignorance in leftist and sociological theory, and this seems counterproductive to me. I see a lot of content saying things to the effect of “If you really cared about (insert marginalized group here), you’d already know this.” I can see how it can like bullying someone who isn’t familiar with these spaces because, for all their many, many faults, liberals are much less likely to engage in violence against a marginalized person than reactionaries.
To be clear, I don’t think you do this much in your videos, and in particular, I think “We go low, they go high” should be required viewing for any liberal. And also to be clear, I think most of these types of video offer essential perspectives for liberals, leftists, and apolitical people alike. I just feel that some people who need to be educated might be turned off by being yelled at for their ignorance.

My problem with leftist social media influencers is that they're mostly bullies, really gives off revenge of the nerds vibe. You're fine because you don't really center on one person but others will make whole videos just continuously mocking some rightoid. Weird

Autistic person here: sometimes a personality disorder, or the appearance of one, can mask neurotypes like autism, so it's important to find a therapist who can handle both, because different treatment modalities may be needed for each. It isn't uncommon for autism to be mistaken for a personality disorder, though a person can certainly have both (Sophie from Mars for instance has said she's both BPD and autistic)!

Anonymous commented:
I'm neurodivergent I think there's a possibility that I might benefit from therapy, but there are a couple of issues: One, I'm forced to deal with the fact that in the US, therapy is expensive, and two, I self diagnose with a lesser known personality disorder and I have doubts that the average therapist would be capable of helping people with that particular disorder.
What should I do? I do genuinely want to find a way to overcome my worse behaviors.

The fact "which genocide you mean?" is a legitimate question is upsetting to say the least, really hope we can manage to cut back on genocide more...

My solution is for *both* sides to have enough common sense and basic human decency to consider a successful negotiation and compromise to be their only option. I know that will never happen, but it should.
