    if we're generous we could say they want a world that is happy and ordered according to what they think is right, which they want to come about naturally but could, in practice, only possibly exist through extreme authoritarianism because people do not naturally conform to what people like Prager and Peterson think is right. in which sense, fascism is less their desire than the means by which their desire could be fulfilled, and on some level they may think it can be achieved by some other means.

    or maybe that's too much generosity, and, yes, they just want fascism.

    why did you think conservatives want to preserve the status quo? the most radical American policies of the last 45 years have been enacted by Republicans. Reagan turned our entire economic model upside down and created the debt economy. W began an unending war. Trump banned entire nations from entry for theocratic reasons. none of those statuses were quo.

    And there are many other extremely valid reasons to hate Stalin, apart from his authoritarianism and poor economic production; Lysenkoism (during which a guy who didn't believe in genetics was responsible for the agriculture industry and had any scientist who didn't renounce genetics fired or imprisoned, this caused extreme famines in the USSR), state-mandated forced labor and gulags, the multiple crimes of ethnic cleansing, mass deportations and genocide (committed against Chinese, Koreans, Chechens, Ingush, etc. as well as 1.8 million "Kulaks", of which 400 thousand have died), his rampant antisemitism during the Doctor's Plot, his pedophilia and, heck, there may be more that I've missed by now.
